Active entrepreneurs serve clients while building their own businesses
Sioux Falls, S.D December 11, 2015 – The South Dakota Technology Business Center (SDTBC), an entrepreneurship organization serving emerging businesses, today announced that it is launching an Entrepreneurs On-Staff Program. In addition to its dedicated full-time staff, experienced and active entrepreneurs join the team in a part-time, limited-term capacity to serve clients. At the same time, they are able to utilize the space and services of the SDTBC to build their own business or pursue their next venture.
Ryan Oines has joined the SDTBC as an Entrepreneur–in–Residence (EIR)–a seasoned professional and accomplished business executive with demonstrated entrepreneurial success in multiple ventures as an investor, founder, owner or officer. Oines is specialized in operations, finance and business administration having been a key player in startups ranging from the technology sector to wind energy.
As an EIR, Oines advises and mentors start-ups, helping them define their vision, manage risk and increase their probability of success. This allows him to help clients capitalize on growth opportunities and scale strategically while vetting his next venture which could take the form of investment, acquisition or assuming a key leadership role.
Ryan Hultgren and Andy Jorgensen are the inaugural Entrepreneurs-in-Practice (EIPs)–having each launched a business, experience and skill-set relevant to business development and actively building their own individual businesses. As EIPs, they will provide services to SDTBC clients, expand networks, and build resources within the organization.
Hultgren is a third generation entrepreneur, whose first business was a workers compensation consulting company. Today, Hultgren co-owns the Platinum Career Services Network, the parent company of College Resumes, which provides career-consulting services for college graduates, as well as the newly launched Dakota Resumes for professionals in Sioux Falls and Sioux City, Iowa, as well as neighboring communities. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Strategic Communications and a minor in Business Administration.
“Being surrounded by entrepreneurs my entire life, I’ve learned a lot about thinking outside the box in order to fix certain problems,” said Hultgren. “I love being able to help connect the dots for fellow entrepreneurs using proven creative approaches I’ve learned over the years.”
Jorgensen recently launched an ecommerce site featuring handmade products from Poland in partnership with Thomas and Kasia Faini of Sioux Falls-based jeweler Faini Designs. Currently, he is developing his first scalable business–a fireworks company based in Sioux Falls-with an online interface utilizing video content. A native of Tea, S.D., Jorgensen is a 2014 graduate of South Dakota State University with a degree in Communication Studies with minors in Business and Marketing. He has experience in sales in the automobile and recruiting industries, and recently was part of the launch team for The Bakery, collaboration space. He is also certified in Google Analytics and Adwords.
“One thing I’m particularly excited about is leveraging the online aspect to emerging businesses,” said Jorgensen. “Although I am a young entrepreneur, I can lend a millennial perspective and suggest potential on-line applications or tactics to more traditional models, while gaining valuable experience from serving other entrepreneurs.”
Entrepreneurs On-Staff are part-time, stipend positions are for a limited term, approximately six to 12 months. In addition to serving SDTBC clients, they will also assist with entrepreneurial programs, new business development and other promotional activities.
“We’re excited to launch this new program and have these energetic entrepreneurs share their experience and expertise,” said Tom Stengrim, Vice President of the SDTBC. “These ambitious individuals share a passion for growing businesses, and will work side-by-side with our clients to help them develop their emerging companies to drive an entrepreneurial culture and a growing economy.”
