Stephen R. Statz, R.Ph., MBA, FACHE


Avera Health

Steve Statz has been the VP of Development for Avera Health in Sioux Falls since 2006. Prior to joining Avera Health, Steve was the Sr. Vice President of Hospital Operations at Avera McKennan for four years. Previously, Steve was President of Statz Companies, Inc. a family business with five retail pharmacies and six home medical equipment stores as well as President of Tel-Drug, Inc., a mail order pharmacy business, which he sold to Cigna Companies in October of 1993.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Creighton University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Steve is active in a number of professional organizations and currently serves on the following boards and committees: Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Board, First Bank and Trust Board, South Dakota Technology Business Center Board, South Dakota Biotech Association Board, South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organization Council on Acute Care, First Tee of South Dakota Board Liaison, South Dakota Special Olympics Board Liaison, and the Sioux Falls Community Foundation Development Committee.

Paul Ten Haken

For years, Paul has been a go-to guy for various media outlets looking to further understand the role that web technology plays in everyday life. He started in digital media at the dawn of the dot-com boom and then spent several years in high-level roles in the corporate sector, gaining experience in business, marketing, and management.
Since launching Click Rain in 2008, Paul’s achievements have been nothing less than impressive. His thought leadership in the digital space earned him a spot in the Google Glass Explorers program, as well as recognition from Tumblr, Entrepreneur Magazine and the BBC. However, his greatest professional success is in building a company that is steadily awarded for its positive workplace culture.
He is the proud founder of the Dispatch Project, a group dedicated to providing overseas service opportunities to business people, and the Ten Fold Foundation, an organization that supports domestic and international causes. He’s a respected leader, and businessman and credits his spirituality for much of what he defines as success.

Keith Severson, Jr.


Eide Bailly LLP

Keith received his BA degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1979. He started in public accounting and then worked in industry before joining Eide Bailly LLP in 1987. At Eide Bailly, he is a past chairman and current member of the firm’s Board of Directors.

Keith is active in a number of professional organizations and currently serves on the following boards and committees: Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member and Treasurer, Member of Chamber Community Appeals Committee, Board Member of the Joint Venture Board of Forward Sioux Falls, and South Dakota Technology Business Center Board Member and Treasurer.

Slater Barr


Sioux Falls Development Foundation

Slater joined the Sioux Falls Development Foundation in August of 2008 as its President. Slater pursues a holistic approach to economic development, incorporating strategies ranging from conventional recruitment to entrepreneurship, from industrial park development to farmland preservation. A seasoned professional, Slater is a Certified Economic Developer and a graduate of Mississippi State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and of the prestigious Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He has also earned a Certificate in Real Estate Development from the Urban Land Institute.

Evan Nolte


Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce

Evan joined the Sioux Falls Chamber staff in 1979 as its Executive Vice President and was appointed President and CEO in 1992. Starting his chamber management career in 1965 in Nebraska City, NE he also served as Executive Vice President of chamber of commerce and economic development organizations in Mason City IA, St. Joseph MO and Yankton SD before coming to Sioux Falls.

Community and professional involvements include serving as a member of the Forward Sioux Falls V Joint Venture Management Committee, SD Economic Development Council and American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) and is currently a board member of the Sioux Empire Housing Partnership, the South Dakota Technology Business Center, and the Downtown Sioux Falls Development Committee.

In 1997, Evan was named Business Citizen of the Year by the Sioux Falls Sales and Marketing Executives (SMEI) organization.

Sherri Rotert


Greenfield Rotert Law, P.C.

Sherri Rotert is a shareholder at Greenfield Rotert Law, P.C. in Sioux Falls. Sherri’s legal practice focuses on representing entrepreneurs, investors and growing businesses, helping with a wide variety of legal issues. Sherri received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota, School of Business in 1992 and her law degree in 2000 from the University of Denver. She began her practice at Cooley, LLP, a national firm based in San Francisco, CA, prior to returning to Sioux Falls in 2003. At that time Sherri joined Boyce, Greenfield, Pashby & Welk, LLP and remained there until late 2011 when she started her own firm, Novellus Law, PC.

Dr. Venky Venkatachalam


Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota

Dr. Venky Venkatachalam is Dean and Professor at the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota (USD). He was previously Associate Dean and Professor at the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). He received his bachelor’s degree with honors in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras, India, MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Venkatachalam has a successful track record as an accomplished teacher, researcher, team builder, networker, entrepreneur, and innovator. From 1995 to 2002, he was the project leader for ACE-Net (Angel Capital Electronic Network), an Internet-based angel capital network that brings together entrepreneurs seeking equity capital and self-accredited investors, on a national basis. In 2000, ACE-Net reached the $1 billion milestone in raising equity financing for entrepreneurs in the nation.

From 2009-13, Dr. Venkatachalam was the project director for a clean energy technology accelerator project (Green Launching Pad), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Green Launching Pad was a state-wide project involving entrepreneurs, private and government sectors in New Hampshire and faculty researchers and students from UNH, Dartmouth College, and other NH colleges. Green Launching Pad successfully launched 14 green startups in two years.

Dr. Pamela Homan is Executive Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Augustana University, where she leads initiatives designed to build strategic partnerships with industry leaders, business heads and curators of creativity.

Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce representative, John Henkhaus, Family Office Head for The Everist Company, has a long record of service to the community, including serving on boards for the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, Downtown Sioux Falls, Washington Pavilion, Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and Help!Line.

Dr. Debra Sepich is the Dean of the Vucurevich School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership at the University of Sioux Falls. An accomplished entrepreneur and Oregon native, Sepich has taken a non-traditional path to higher education administration and represents both the wisdom of experience and vitality of the students.

Mike Vetter is founder and Chief Technology Officer of DataSync Corporation, a software advisory and engineering firm he started at the SDTBC, which has grown to more than 30 employees with plans to reach 40 employees in 2017.
