Program Details

The Accelerator Challenge is comprised of training sessions, independent study, team exercises, mentoring, presentations and much more.

The format allows for day-to-day operations of the business while participating in session and applying those concepts to the business. Each day includes networking opportunities to interact with subject matter experts, successful entrepreneurs, peers and business coaches. Key areas covered in the program include:

  • Company image development or refinement
  • Business model development
  • Legal structure, business formation and/or business processes
  • Patents and intellectual property
  • Building a management team
  • Sales and defining the customer
  • Financial literacy, developing projections and fiscal planning

Business Launch Boot Camp
The three-day “boot camp” covers the business essentials in an intense workshop with required reading and business planning assignments to be completed prior to camp. Participants will work in various formats including with a team, independent study, presentations, classroom, and mentoring–with topics and exercises applying directly to their individual businesses. Topics include: business model, legal structure, patents and intellectual property, funding, elevator pitch, industry/market and customers, messaging.

Accelerator Monthly Sessions (One-Day)
The Accelerator Challenge culminates with a “pitch day” where each participant has the opportunity to pitch to representatives from four angel funds. These investors are actively seeking companies bringing the brightest new concepts to the South Dakota economy.

Each full day session includes interactive learning activities, speakers and/or panels of subject matter experts. Private interim meetings with program facilitators to set goals, gage progress and other guidance as needed are part of the program. Breakfast, lunch snacks and beverages are also included in each full day sessions.
