The SDTBC also assists with leasing and has extended its technology infrastructure and programs for entrepreneurs to the companies that are working closely with University of South Dakota scientists and researchers developing new technologies and products at the GEAR Center (Graduate Education and Applied Research Center) in north Sioux Falls.
Located at 4800 N. Career Ave. in Sioux Falls, the GEAR Center was opened in Spring, 2009 to stimulate applied research and commercialization in South Dakota. TheU’s Biomedical Engineering program and Center for Research & Development of Light-activated Materials are both housed in the GEAR CENTER.
The GEAR Center is a collaborative environment where innovative solutions are sought to relevant problems and where entrepreneurism is encouraged.
The cohesive research focus of the GEAR Center creates a critical mass of expertise and resources, and is aligned with state priorities in biomedical and material sciences and biotechnology.
